Evaluation of the network is essential to monitor progress toward achievement of the goals and inform strategic planning. The InspireNet Evaluation Coordinating Team works to develop and implement evaluation activities.

The InspireNet Logic Model provides detail on the anticipated outcomes and indicators for years 1 - 2 and 3 - 4, as well as the measurement approach. There is attention to using both qualitative and quantitative measures to assess outcomes, and a desire to capture both intellectual capital (knowledge) and social capital (relationships) that are linked to network activity and enhance the ability to do research1.

Evaluation Planning: 2 pronged approach

1. Network Evaluation

Overall evaluation of the network is underway.

Overarching Evaluation Plan: http://www.inspirenet.ca/Evaluation-Plan

2. eCoP Evaluation

InspireNet is in a partnership with the UBC eHealth Strategy Office to evaluate Action Team's electronic communities of practice (eCoP). As InspireNet uses web 2.0 technologies to bring members together in new ways, this specific component of the network is being evaluated in addtion to the network evaluation.
