Call for Abstracts: Electronic Poster Presentations
InspireNet wants to help you get your nursing health services research out to your fellow members, and to this end is providing a fun and inspiring venue to do so!
In celebration of National Nursing Week, we're continuing our innovative peer-reviewed digital poster contest that will help raise awareness of your work across InspireNet's membership.
Winners will:
- Have their eposter promoted on InspireNet's ePosters webpage
- Present their eposter electronically at our annual conference, Connect 2012, on November 5
- Have an opportunity to present their eposter via webinar organized through InspireNet, recorded for future reference (not mandatory)
- Be acknowledged in InspireNet's eNews, sent to all members and archived on our website
What
Any nursing health services research, quality improvement or program evaluation project completed in whole or in part by InspireNet members. Your poster can be new, or already existing.
Who
All InspireNet members are welcome to submit an abstract for review. Not a member? Join us - it's free!
Students are encouraged to participate with their projects!
When
- Announcement: May 14-18, 2012
- Abstract deadline: July 13, 2012
- Adjudication completed: August 17, 2012
- Notifications of acceptance: August 24, 2012

Eligibility Criteria
- Research or evaluation may be published or unpublished, a single study or a body of work, the work of an individual or a team.
- Time frame for when the research or evaluation was conducted is open, but the impact should have occurred recently.
Selection Criteria
Each abstract will be adjudicated on:
- Quality of research or evaluation design and methods;
- Effectiveness of the dissemination and translation approach; and
- Impact - findings are reported clearly with implications for nursing practice.
Abstract Adjudication Process
Adjudication will be completed by a team of peers from practice and academia.
Abstracts
Must be a Word document no longer than 200 words without charts or tables - text only, and can include the following headings (* mandatory):
- Project title *
- Researcher name(s) and affiliations (where you study/work) *
- Introduction and Background *
- Methods *
- Results/Findings *
- Discussion/implications *
- Acknowledgements (of funders, supporters)
- References
ePosters
Posters can be made using PowerPoint. Lots of free poster templates are available on the internet: do a Google search on 'free powerpoint poster template' if you'd like to use one.
PowerPoint files will then be converted by InspireNet to a web-based platform, making your research available on the world wide web.

Connect 2012 Details
ePoster presenters (1 per poster) will be given free registration to the conference. Be sure to schedule November 5 in Vancouver in your calendar so you can be there to present your eposter! Some travel assistance is available through InspireNet.
Presenters will use a laptop and large screen monitor to present their poster at the conference. One presenter for each poster accepted will be given complimentary registration to the conference.
Presenters are asked to bring 8.5" x 11" hard copies of their poster, and may bring business cards, newsletters, brochures, or other project related materials, to share with conference participants.

Webinar Details
Presenters will be invited to present a webinar early in 2013 of their poster, if they wish. The webinar will be recorded and archived on InspireNet's website.
